Brooklyn Does Missionary Week
For Activity Days I put together a missionary week for the girls. Brooklyn is one of my girls so she got to participate! They needed to avoid screen time, read their scriptures and say their prayers. I left it up to them and their parents how they wanted to do that an what they felt was best.
Sunday- Ask someone about their mission
Monday- Help plan an FHE lesson
Tuesday- Try something new (she tried a fun fruit we'd never heard of and learned some words in Spanish)
Wednesday- Pay special attention to someone lonely at school
Thursday- Family History
Friday- Listen to or read a conference talk
Saturday- Write down your testimony
Sunday- Share your testimony (this wasn't required to complete the challenge but they got an extra prize if they did it. Almost every single girl did it!!)
Daddy Daughter Dance
Had to document these two before their Daddy Daughter dance at the church! It was so cute and they had a lot of fun. Brooklyn spent hours getting ready!
Brooklyn's Dog, Jack
We rescued Jack in 2013 when we were living in Portland. He was a pure bread beagle and so sweet and loving with the kids. He slowly became Brooklyn's dog and he almost always slept with her. He ended up getting too sick to carry on so we had to put him to sleep and Brooklyn made the decision to be there with him for it.
It was really hard on her and she still struggles with it. She bore her testimony a few days later in sacrament sharing that she knows she will see him again.

Brooklyn Gets Baptized!
I'm not sure I know anyone that was as excited as Brooklyn to get baptized. She started counting down the days long loooong beforehand. I think this hooded cape pretty much sent her over the edge, too.
She and just one other girl were the only two kids from the entire stake getting baptized and the other girl happened to be in Brooklyn's primary class so they're buddies. The whole thing was pretty intimate and sweet. Her Grandpa Cannon and Grandpa Jon were witnesses and she felt so special the whole day!
Freshly baptized and just white as snow!
We all went out to pizza pie cafe' afterwards and had a great time. We just love her so much!
Brooklyn Turns 8!
Wow! Brooklyn Jane Cannon is now 8 years old. Where has the time gone? She is so full of life and brave and sure of who she is. It's very inspiring!
Her 8th birthday was just too much fun. She went shopping at Ulta with Grandma Guymon and then biked to Walgreens with Anna. She came home to her new bed!
She treated everyone to a birthday primary song she'd practiced on the piano after she opened all her gifts!
That weekend she got to have a birthday party! She chose to have a spa party They each got their own robes and head bands and painted their nails, did face masks, got a foot bath and had a dance party.
Brooklyn was insistent on Garden Vegetable cream cheese with these bagel crisp things you can only find at Tuesday Morning. Apparently her friend had some at lunch one day. We also had homemade dulce de leche with apples.
They each got like 15 bath fizz tabs so their foot baths were raging! It was a little scary but super fun!

Lunch with Tim after that at Pizza Pie Cafe!
And theeeeen the big one! Getting her ears pierced! She did so well and hardly flinched at all!
Then her requested dinner of ravioli, rice-a-roni and bratwursts!
She requested an ice cream of funfetti cake and sherbet ice cream on top with a layer of cool whip and spirnkles. Very Brooklyn if you ask me.

We did concessions and movie tickets to watch Jurassic Park downstairs. She fell asleep!
